A BIG DAY..

Yes I am still here waiting and that patiently bit is wearing thin now !

How I didn't go into labour after the epic days shopping I had with my mum on Friday I don't know.. What was initially a quick run to ikea to pick up one or two things ended up being a round trip to Ikea & all the other shops in the centre, followed by spotlight, shopping centre for a trip to K-mart and a few other essential shops..( don't even try and tell me Country road is not essential ) then we rounded off at local homemaker centre for Baby bunting and Adairs for my mum .. Phewww

So amongst all of that I was doing some hunting for a floor rug for my 'good' room and the babies room. I have been looking for a while now and feeling rather frustrated , because quite frankly most rugs that are in my budget are horrible..I have even considered ordering one from America- in which case the postage would be more than the actual item..

I guess this is partly because I am heavily influenced by trends in America due to my rather obsessive blog reading.. So Chevron has been on my radar for about 2 years now and same for Ikat. These are now filtering down to the ' high street' or in fact they are here..but by the time they hit Target etc I have lost a little interest and moving onto the next unattainable for 2 years trend..

Having said that I think there are a few surprising places that are really keeping up there with fresh trends and one place that keeps surprising is spotlight.. the other day I spotted this rug there..

Now this is not what I am looking for but I have seen this rug in numerous magazine shoots, and I also came across it in a children's room online the other day and it retails around $600..

Then I spotted these Ikat rugs- pity they are only small  door mat size

At $12 each on sale- I guess I could buy a few and stitch them together !

While at the Ikea springvale centre I also found some really nice middle of the budget range rugs in a furniture store( cant remember the name for the life of me) They averaged around $500 which I don't think is too bad ( my mum not so much! )

Jute - Firmus (bleached)

The last one is something a little different- and the picture is a bit skewed and makes it look a little ugly but in the flesh I loved it and am feeling a little hesitant to splash on the chevron in case I get sick of it..

Another shop I think is always worth a little wander is the reject shop..

these ceramic stools have been around the magazine and blog world for a long time and the reject shop currently have them in three colours for $40 , there are some online stores selling them for $200 plus. I have never really coveted one but for $40 I may not be able to resist!

One last little bargain I came across on Friday - I spotted these knitted pouffes/ottomans in a babies room on pinterest and after a little search realised that I would either have to knit one- not going to happen or pay around $200 from Etsy + shipping.. Again spotlight saved the day with this handsome looking pouffe !

$40 on sale already filled - bargain!

Speaking of babies rooms, I have been gathering little bits and pieces and nearly have the room exactly as I wanted it- I cant wait to share, we got a fancy schmancy new camera today so I will hopefully very soon..

Phew feels like a epic post tonight, I guess what I am trying to say is don't rule anywhere out when looking for something you have spotted online or in a magazine- don't like me sook about the fact that they wont post to Australia or it cost insane amounts, get out there and look and if that fails - make it- has anybody seen a few of the painted rug tutorials online that a few people have posted- grab a cheap ikea rug, make a stencil and paint your chevron stripes on or whatever it may be..

Time to put the little men in the house to bed- they are off to my mums for a little mini holiday tomorrow, I am thinking a pedicure and a bit of relaxation are in order..

WAITING PATIENTLY..

The first week of the school holidays is nearly over and we have spent it relaxing- sleeping in ( me anyway) , watching too much T.V and playing way too much Wii - that's what school holidays are all about though, surely ?

We are also waiting patiently for baby number 3 to arrive, not long now ..

I have also been meaning to share this lamp I picked up a few weeks ago on an op-shopping expedition- It is really tall and I love the curves, the gold not so much... so it is destined for a date with a spray can post baby- I am thinking aqua and then a new shade it will be perfect for my 'good room', I was originally trying devise a scheme of how I would come up with the $300 dollars for this one...

Magnolia Lamp Blue from Domayne

I think with a little make over I will love this one just as much for a fraction of the price

If like me you are in Melbourne I hope you enjoyed the beautiful 27 degree day we had today, we sure did....

FRIDAY AT THE VINTAGE SHED..

I have officially finished work at the Vintage Shed to rest up before baby, but before I put my feet up I took the opportunity of no kids at home today to go down and have a little tidy and re- vamp of myself and Bec's ( former partner in crime) shared space...

We still have some great Brimfield stock left and then each of us has our own collections, so the space is still jam packed with some great things...

It was a long day and I don't think my husband will ever dare step into the Vintage Shed again for fear of being asked to move large pieces of furniture 5 times!

You can only imagine my excitement when I got home exhausted and the boys reminded that we had tickets booked for Madagascar 3 ..Although if you have to sit through a kids movie this one is pretty good - what I saw of it anyway, I took a power nap, I just can't seem to stay awake in the Cinema anymore !

School holidays for us, time for some r & r with my two little men before we become a family of 5..

Have a great weekend

PINTREST.....

I am not loving my photographs lately, all I have is my iphone and I am not sure if it is me or it- I just don't feel my photos are showing a true representation of what I am trying to show on here..

So instead today, I thought I would share some of my 'pins' of late.. I am loving pintrest more and more lately- I read so many blogs, and come across so many great ideas, images etc and it such a great way of keeping track of future reference

CHAOS TO CALM

I have been a little quiet on the blogging front lately, not too many exciting things happening to share here.. Also I have still been having a massive spring clean with the vision of having everything beautiful and perfect before baby gets here.. in reality things are only ever near perfect for about 5 minutes before 2 little boys and 1 big manage to mess it up again- I saw a book the other day that I really have to get..

So last room that I had to go through was our home office/ dumping ground and as I was clearing out other rooms or drawers I dumped anything that I couldn't find a home for in here and this was the result..

And that only the half of it ! Robbie and I share a spare room as an office and he was originally on the wall that you would look into when standing in our kitchen living area - and yes he works hard but there is nothing pretty about his work, so I swapped us over and finally put up some cheapo cork boards that I have had in the cupboard for a long time..

I am pretty happy with the result all that I need now is the shiny new Mac I have been pining/ hinting/wanting for some time to appear and it will complete the picture ..  hint to husband

Tomorrow I am off to the Vintage Shed tomorrow for one of my last shifts.. Its always exciting to get in there in the morning and find out the latest finds from stallholders that are on display.

That's it for me today now the spring clean is finished I am off to make a start on a quilt for baby - not sure if the baby or the finished quilt will arrive first ..

A TOUCH OF SPRING

We had a glimpse of spring yesterday here in Melbourne  22C and sunny. It was sooo nice after a long cold winter we are certainly well overdue for some sun.

All this sun had me craving some colour by the way of flowers in my home- I generally go for neutral tones for most parts of my home - linen and grey are pretty much all the way throughout . At the moment though I am seriously taken with pink & teal ( aqua even) combined together..

Blue masons jars are the perfect match with pink flowers, If you can't get your hands on these I came across this DIY version on the fab Happy Home blog  to turn any old glass jar you might have around the house into the perfect shade of blue- so clever and a blog jam packed with great DIY ideas..

Spring preview is over, its blowing a gale outside and the heat is pumping, I am off to clean out another draw/ room / cupboard at the rate I am going with this nesting thing we will have nothing left in our house !

TIME OUT..

Its rare for us to spend a lot of time together just the 4 of us, Robbie and I both work weekend and with Race meetings, markets, sports etc etc we mainly pass each other in the hall.. So when we realised that this last weekend we had completely free we jumped at the chance to take off for a days and spend time with the boys before life changes for good with the arrival of baby number 3 shortly...

There was a deluxe ocean view room, lots of swimming, walking ,kangaroo spotting , sleeping and eating yummy food it was Heaven...

Back to school and day to day fun things like washing ,cooking etc blah blah , but for tonight I am still in holiday mode and I am going to head off for a bit of blog reading..
